- We weigh in on the controversy surrounding WordPress Direct, a service that, although not affiliated with the official WordPress project, nonetheless uses WordPress to provide blogs along with content from subjects of the owner’s choice (Splogging?).
- Mark walks us through several new features offered by WordPress 2.7, which is currently in Beta and soon to advance to release candidate stage.
- A reminder to let us know how we’re doing by taking a quick survey.

The bogus wordpress version DID appear in the dashboard that’s why people got hacked. See http://www.craigmurphy.com/blog/?p=874
Granted the people affected where using old wordpress versions, but it is more than just visiting a fake site by mistyping.
Keep up the good work.
Hello there,
it has been some time since I last visited this podcast site
Good to see more frequent PodCasts. I can’t wait for WP 2.7 to finally come out, for now I’m using the latest beta version on my personal blog and it has been a very nice experience, especially with the new blue color scheme
So if sticky posts are “only for a certain type of blog” why is it part of core instead of just a plugin?
I have to say I heard one guy say it’s painful when he has to visit a blog that is still using 2.6.5. I feel the same thing. I can’t believe how wonderful it it to have Wordpress 2.7 Beta to pull a new plugin. I especially love the new feature of going through new posts. I can see excerpts. It has speeded up my editorial review of new posts. And of course the best is the one click update. Could that get any easier for newbies. I had trouble with my last host with simple things of one click updating on WP2.7 so I switched to BlueHost.com and that has helped wonderfully. No more hosting issues. I can’t get enough of WP2.7. There was a process that took place with themes and comment ability. But now I’m loving every minute of it and it’s been worth every moment of the transition 10 times over. Thanks everyone to your hard work on WP and I love the podcast here. Finally I get to here some great consistent talk about WP.
Best regards,
Matt

Charles, this Firefox utility does exactly what you’re looking for: Makes Akismet SPAM lists easily navigable, helps you find false positives or give you peace of mind that there aren’t any.
It groups Akismet messages by sender (IP), so for example a robot that has sent you 150 comments will appear as just one entry in a list. You really just have to look at the list of senders that have submitted 1 or 2 comments in order to find any false positives.

Unfortunately it hasn’t yet been updated to work with WP 2.7, but here’s hoping that will come soon.
