Only moments ago, Ryan Boren announced the release of WordPress release candidate 1. If you’re already using a Beta release of 2.7 you may automatically update via its built-in auto update function, and if not you may download it in .zip form here.

  1. Josh says:

I admire your podcast, and am sorry that this is a bit of an angry complaining comment, but please, is it really necessary to write a blog post about each beta and release candidate of WordPress? I’m sure those of us who are interested in these issues are already subscribed to the official Development Blog.

    • No problem, Josh, I’d rather you voice your concerns here where I can address them directly.

My intention in making the post about RC1 being released was to present that as WordPress news, and I’ll be doing that more as we try to make WordPress Community about more than just publishing the podcast. I’d assumed that other sites interested in WordPress development such as Mashable, Weblog Tools Collection or The Blog Herald, just to name a few, would also make the announcement but a quick glance shows I would be mistaken. Maybe I made the wrong call?

What do you, my readers, think? Should I not announce any version releases, or just exclude development versions?

  2. Jim Child says:

I’d hope and assume that “we” here in the give and take world of blog posts/comments would be assessing and evaluating the betas and RC’s as they come down the pike.

We can have a little more fun here than is possible over at WP.org

    Yes.

Also I just want to tell you that I have just started listening to the shows and I think they are great. I only wish there are more of them.

  4. Hey guys, we are all big fans of WordPress, but your last podcast was an hour and seventeen minutes long.

Seriously. That’s the length of a $100 million blockbuster movie.

    Who has the time?

Can we squeeze the best content down into a condensed version?

Even if you cut 17 minutes out, that’s still an hour-long show.

  5. Conor says:

    WORDPRESS 2.7 in out!

  6. Brendon says:

Charles – have you heard anything about 2.7 admin area not working properly in Google Chrome browser? I’ve just upgraded and the whole dashboard is missing when I use Chrome – yet displays fine in IE.

BTW – I’m happy with the length of the shows and I like the music.
