Thanks Frederick. This podcast was very useful :)
FYI – I find out about your latest podcasts being posted via an RSS feed from http://planet.wordpress.org , as their site’s feed has your podcasts listed before your own feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/wordpresspodcast) and before iTunes, for that matter.
I know Marc, that’s because planet.wordpress gets another feed, that only includes the podcasts and none of the other posts, for historical reasons.
This is a great interview with a lot of powerful advice
Very glad to hear that feedback! Thank you.
This would have to be the best podcast on building a blogging business, [or any business for that matter] that I have heard.
The key messages I got out of this are:
1. To find a niche with promise that you can be passion about, that is not yet overcrowded.
2. Focus on pumping out focused content, and building loyal readers and networks before you worry about monetising your site.
3. Consistently address your readers key issues in your publications.
4. Invest in authors as your revenue grows so you can run the business. [Work on the business, not in the business].
5. You don’t have to be a Geek to succeed online. Non techies can use WordPress and find out in forums what the need to know as they grow their business.
Great interview. Hight recommended to any novice who wants to build an online business using WordPress.
Thanks for the feedback Rick, glad to read that you enjoyed it this much :)
The links in your post for media summit and social media day are crossed.
Indeed, fixed, thanks for noticing!
Thanks for sharing the podcast. I did not know Mashable is powered by WordPress! :)
How do new wordpress blogs begin advertising?
